Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has finally unveiled the brand new YZF-R15 entry-level sports bike over the weekend. In line with the strong heritage and continued brand love, HLYM revealed the upgraded version of the YZF-R15, as a prelude to the Karnival Gen Blu Yamaha, held here in Batu Kawan, Penang.
Quoting Dato Jim Khor, managing director of HLYM, “With the introduction of the YZF-R15, this will surely raise the industry standard for motorcycles below 200cc.
He added, “Since 2017, the industry has seen motorcycles sold of about 500,000 units and this is a strong testament that motorcycles will remain and continue as the choice of mode of transportation in Malaysia.”
The YZF-R15 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4 valves plus the fuel-efficient technology Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), mated to a six-speed gearbox, producing 19hp and 14.7nm of torque. Not missing out that this new model comes standard with upside-down forks and Assist & Slipper clutch to help downshifts smoother and prevents locking up the rear wheel.
HLYM prices the bike competitively at RM 11,988 without GST (subject to approval), excludes road taxes and insurance as well. With every purchase of YZF-R15, the owner receives a Yamaha 6mm pin, alarmed disc-lock. The bike comes in three colour variation, Black, Blue, and Yellow. The R15 will be available from end of August 2018 onwards.
